UPSC Releases CMSE 2026 Notification: 1,358 Vacancies Announced for Medical Officers  

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) 2026. This year, the commission aims to fill a total of 1,358 vacancies across various central government departments, providing a significant opportunity for MBBS graduates to join the prestigious central healthcare services.

Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) 2026 Vacancy Breakdown:

The recruitment drive is divided into two main categories:

Category I: Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Service (864 posts).

Category II: * Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways (450 posts).

General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council (14 posts).

General Duty Medical Officer Gr-II in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (30 posts).

Eligibility and Age Limit: Candidates must have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination. Those currently in their final year are also eligible to apply provisionally. The upper age limit is set at 32 years as of August 1, 2026 (candidates must not have been born earlier than August 2, 1994), with a relaxation of up to 35 years for certain GDMO sub-cadres and standard relaxations for reserved categories.

Notification Date: March 11, 2026

Application Deadline: March 31, 2026 (till 6:00 PM)

Exam Date: August 2, 2026

Admit Card Release: Expected July 2026

How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official portal at upsconline.nic.in. The process requires a One-Time Registration (OTR), followed by the submission of the application form and a fee of ₹200 (exempted for Females, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates).
