HAMIRPUR, (HP): The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, an Institute of National Importance, has officially released the advertisement for its Ph.D. admission program for the July 2026 session (Academic Year 2026-27). Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for both Full-Time and Part-Time doctoral research positions across various Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Management departments.
Key Highlights of the Notification:
- Application Deadline: The final date to submit the online application is April 24, 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).
- Programs Offered: Admissions are open for disciplines including Architecture, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Chemical, and Materials Science Engineering. Other departments include Physics & Photonics Science, Chemistry, Mathematics & Scientific Computing, Management Studies, Humanities & Social Sciences, and the Centre for Energy Studies.
- Admission Categories:
- Full-Time: Includes Fellowship Research Scholars (FT01), Non-Fellowship (FT01-A), Externally Funded (FT02), and Sponsored (FT03) categories.
- Part-Time: Includes Institute Research Scholars (PT01) and Sponsored Research Scholars (PT02).
- Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a Written Test and/or Interview/Presentation scheduled for May 14, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Engineering: Master’s degree with minimum 6.5 CGPI or 60% marks (6.0 CGPI/55% for SC/ST/PwD). Direct admission after Bachelor’s degree is possible for candidates with a high CGPI of 8.5 or 80% marks.
- Humanities/Sciences/Management: Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with specific CGPI/percentage requirements as detailed in the information brochure.
- National Level Tests: Applicants for Fellowship categories (FT01) must have qualified UGC-NET, CSIR, or GATE.
